JobDescription:
* To serve as acivilian employee of the Indiana State Police whose primaryresponsibility is to keep all stateowned commissions in the bestpossible mechanical operating condition.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Perform preventive maintenance as needed.
* Complete assigned repair work as required.
* Notify appropriate personnel on any visible majorproblems.
* Keep work orders up todate
* Order parts and maintain garage stockroom.
* Keep area of assignment clean andorderly.
* Assist in unloading the supply truckand loading old tires empty oil drums etc.
* Periodically complete training for new procedures andskills needed to maintain state owed commissions.
DUTIES
* Perform the following repairs or preventative maintenancework on any of the following: 3prong accessories antennas camerasystems deck lights flashlight systems fuses light bars mirrorlights motorcycle and trailer wiring computer docking station andradio equipment.
* Maintain variouslogs.
* Use diagnostic equipment to troubleshootand find problems in the commission.
* Testdrive commission to ensure it is in working order.
* Perform building custodian duties as required by theDivision or District Commander.
* Perform otherduties as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOBREQUIREMENTS
* Must be ahigh school graduate or possess GED certificate.
* Must have a valid Indiana drivers license.
* Ability to lift and move heavy automotiveobjects.
* Ability to communicate and followinstructions.
* Ability to distinguish anddetermine colors and sounds.
* Ability tocommunicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to work in close and confined areas.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.

* Must be able to diagnose problems on thecommissions.
* Must be able to operate any ofthe assigned tools and equipment and use automotive shopmanuals.
* Must be able to complete any of theassigned repair jobs to include mechanical electrical hydraulic andcomputer.
* Must be able to use diagnostictesting equipment to troubleshoot and find problems.
PERSONAL WORKRELATIONSHIPS
* Work withDepartment personnel.
* Work with auto dealersservice departments body shops and other professionals.
PHYSICAL EFFORTAND WORK ENVIRONMENT
* Workis normally performed in a garage environment.
* Routinely requires standing on cement for extendedperiods working in close and confined areas with exposure tohazardous materials and potentially dangerous equipment.
Work involves sitting standing crouchingkneeling and periodic lifting of heavyobjects.
