Important Requirement

This role is intended for candidates who hold a valid Transport Manager CPC (National or International) and have proven experience managing transport operations under an Operator Licence.

Applications without CPC qualification or relevant transport compliance experience are unlikely to be progressed.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced CPC-qualified Transport Operations Manager to take responsibility for a busy HGV fleet and transport operation.

You will be accountable for compliance, driver management, vehicle standards, and operational performance, ensuring all activities meet Operator Licence undertakings and DVSA expectations.

This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring a practical approach to managing both compliance and day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage day-to-day transport operations, including planning, scheduling, and execution

* Oversee HGV drivers, ensuring performance, compliance, and conduct standards are maintained

* Ensure full compliance with Drivers’ Hours, Working Time Directive (WTD), and Operator Licence requirements

* Monitor tachograph data, infringements, and compliance reports, taking corrective action

* Maintain vehicle compliance, including inspections, defect reporting, and maintenance coordination

* Ensure vehicles are only dispatched when roadworthy and legally compliant

* Conduct structured driver briefings and debriefings

* Maintain audit-ready records in line with DVSA requirements

* Investigate incidents, defects, and compliance issues, implementing corrective actions

* Manage depot operations, ensuring health & safety and operational standards are maintained

* Support driver recruitment, onboarding, and training

* Deliver against operational KPIs and service performance targets

Candidate Requirements

* Valid Transport Manager CPC (National or International)

* Proven experience in Transport Operations / Fleet Management / HGV Operations

* Strong knowledge of UK transport compliance and Operator Licence obligations

* Experience managing drivers, tachograph systems, and compliance processes

* Ability to maintain audit-ready transport systems

* Strong leadership, organisation, and decision-making skills

Desirable

* Experience in crane, abnormal load, or specialist transport operations

* Experience with DVSA audits or compliance inspections

* Multi-vehicle or depot management experience
