Consultant Sub Agent – Civil Engineering
Plymouth (Site Based)
Permanent / Long-Term Opportunity
A leading project management and advisory consultancy is seeking an experienced Consultant Sub Agent to join a major infrastructure project in Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly experienced delivery team supporting the successful delivery of complex civil engineering works.
The role will involve supporting the Agent and wider delivery team with the management of site operations, technical compliance, and project delivery to ensure works are completed safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
This position would suit an experienced Sub Agent, Senior Section Engineer, or Section Engineer looking to step up with strong civil engineering experience, particularly within reinforced concrete structures.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Agent in managing construction operations and technical compliance on site
* Mentor and coordinate junior engineers within the delivery team
* Liaise with subcontractors, client representatives, and project stakeholders
* Assist with construction planning, kick-off meetings, and pre-commencement documentation
* Produce and review documentation including Method Statements, Environmental and Quality Plans
* Contribute to project programming, progress reporting, and resource planning
* Allocate labour, plant, materials, and temporary works to meet programme and quality targets
* Identify and resolve technical issues arising on site
* Ensure works are delivered in line with Health & Safety regulations, CDM requirements, and project standards
Requirements
* Degree / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience
* Strong experience within civil engineering construction projects
* Experience with reinforced concrete structures
* Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Good understanding of CDM regulations and site safety standards
Due to the nature of the project, BPSS clearance eligibility is required. Candidates must hold a passport from EU, NATO, Five Eyes or MISWG member countries.
Desirable Experience
* CSCS, SMSTS, TWS or TWC
* Knowledge of NEC contracts
* Exposure to planning, cost control, and supply chain management
* Experience with BIM / digital construction tools
