Overview
As a ward clerk you will be working within the neurosciences department to provide a comprehensive administrative service. You will be dealing with members of the public and linking with medical staff at all levels both face to face and on the telephone. The role involves a combination of reception based work and coordinating admissions and discharges.
Responsibilities
* Reception based work and dealing with members of the public.
* Coordinating admissions and discharges in collaboration with clinical teams.
* Answering phones and performing office duties.
* Using IT systems efficiently and professionally.
* Maintaining professionalism and adhering to GDPR due to interactions with patients.
* Shift work between 7am to 10pm, Monday to Sunday, on a rota basis to be shared within the team.
Qualifications and Experience
* Educated to GCSE grade 4/C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent experience).
* Experience working in an admin environment.
* Previous hospital experience including knowledge of EPR is desirable.
* Excellent communication skills, effective keyboard skills, and the ability to work as part of a team or unsupervised when necessary.
* Full training for this post will be provided.
* Understanding of confidentiality and commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Working Environment and Requirements
The post will predominantly be at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital with a flexible approach to working required.
