Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy

The above full-time (1.0FTE) post is available from 2nd January 2026 until 30th June 2027, on a fixed-term basis within the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy.

The post

The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Professor Bass. This EU funded post is available from 02/01/26 to 30/06/27. The successful applicant will design and execute experiments to investigate the evolution of insect resistance to xenobiotics. A range of biological, molecular and bioinformatic approaches will be used including insect bioassays, analysis of next-gen sequencing data, PCR, QPCR, in vitro and in vivo expression of candidate genes (including CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing) and biochemical assays. The post-holder will also contribute to other activities in the Bass lab.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to conduct the techniques and approaches detailed above.
