Senior Children's Residential Worker - Cae Bryn House, Bridgend County Borough Council
Do you have experience working in Children’s Residential Care? If so, this is an exciting time to join Bridgend County Borough Council (Bridgend CBC) as we remodel the way we meet the needs of children and young people who need our support. The role is 32 hours per week and is based at Cae Bryn House.
Aims of the Home
* Provide children/young people with an individualised package of support that focuses on their assessed needs.
* Offer therapeutically informed interventions to assist them in achieving personal well‑being.
* Assist children/young people to explore their own issues and experiences and work through any emotions and feelings which may become a barrier to a stable placement and future accommodation.
* Provide appropriate levels of support that recognise, value, and encourage children/young people to maintain personal skills and competencies and promote their confidence and self‑esteem.
* Provide a comprehensive package of educational support to promote the best possible outcomes for children/young people within their educational setting.
* Work closely with families or substitute families to ensure that when children/young people return home or go to other suitable placements promotes their independence.
* Provide age‑appropriate independent living programmes to assist young people to develop the necessary skills to enable them, if appropriate, to live independently.
Key Responsibilities
* Organise and run shifts.
* Attend meetings and write detailed reports.
* Manage health and safety, key working, petty cash and medication.
* Supervise staff and ensure regulatory requirements are met.
* Act as part of the management team, delivering care and support and supporting the development of the workforce.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Level 3 qualified in Health and Social Care (CYP). If you do not already possess level 4 (preparing for leadership and management) or level 5 (leadership and management in HSC: Practice), a willingness to work towards these qualifications is required.
* Substantial experience in children’s residential care, with detailed evidence of your role.
* Enhanced Children and Adults Barred list criminal records check (DBS) is a requirement.
* Ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is required.
* Willingness to work sleeps, weekends, and standby duties.
