Job Description
Purpose of position
The Clerk of Works / Contracts Manager is responsible for procuring, overseeing, and managing the quality and compliance of works derived from workplace transport assessments of Network properties and Hubs throughout the UK portfolio. The role ensures that works are executed according to specifications, drawings, reports, and relevant building regulations. This position has national coverage across approximately 90 sites and involves extensive travel.
Responsibilities
1. Tender documentation: Prepare a quantified schedule of remedial works based on approved assessment reports, assess tenders, and manage contractor appointments.
2. Site Inspections & Quality Assurance: Conduct regular site inspections, ensure compliance with drawings and regulations, identify defects, and verify material quality.
3. Contract Management: Oversee contract implementation, monitor contractor adherence, review progress reports, manage variations, and resolve disputes.
4. Record Keeping & Documentation: Maintain detailed records, prepare reports, organize documentation, and provide progress updates.
5. Communication & Collaboration: Act as a liaison among contractors, stakeholders, and sites; facilitate meetings and provide technical guidance.
6. Health & Safety: Ensure safety regulations are followed, monitor safety practices, and participate in safety meetings.
7. Project Handover: Oversee snagging, ensure project completion complies with scope, and prepare handover documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
* Strong knowledge of building regulations, construction standards, and quality control.
* Experience with construction contracts and management principles.
* Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
* Attention to detail, organizational and communication skills.
* Proficiency with relevant software and technology.
* Certifications such as CIOB, ICWCI, IOSH are desirable.
* Valid driver's license.
