About the Company
Our client is a weaving and knitting business supplying performance glass fibre, aramid, and carbon fibre to industries including aerospace, defence, reinforcement, high-temperature applications, filtration, PTFE, elastomer coating, and automotive. Employing around 300 staff, they are expanding and seeking a Group Installation Electrician.
The Vacancy
The responsibilities of the Group Installation Electrician include:
1. Assisting the Engineering Manager with ongoing and new projects
2. Meeting production needs related to engineering installation and project work
3. Installing distribution boards, armoured cables, cable trays, conduits, trunking, and data cables
4. Completing EIC, MW Certificates, and EICR reports
5. Wiring and modifying control panels, upgrading machinery
6. Conducting thermal image surveys
7. Machinery maintenance, emergency light testing, and repairs
8. Working with AC and DC drives (must-have experience)
9. Issuing permits to work
10. Attending training courses
11. Working at height (preferably with IPAF certification)
12. Testing lightning protection systems
13. Working in hazardous areas
The successful candidate will work as part of our Group Engineering team across Oldham, Rochdale, and Littleborough and should be willing to attend callouts approximately once every 7 weeks.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* Knowledge of AC and DC drives
* At least three years' experience in a similar role
* Ability to work safely following Health and Safety procedures
* Knowledge of BS 7671 (Electrical Regulations)
* Experience with process efficiency improvements using PPM and CIP processes
* Ability to carry out legislative testing of electrical equipment and systems
* Teamwork skills to optimize performance and meet targets
* Stock management skills
* Liaison with external contractors when necessary
* Willingness to participate in training and job development
Desirable Qualifications (Not Essential)
* City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing)
* PLC experience
* CompEx qualification
* Experience with ATEX equipment
* Electrical trade apprenticeship and relevant qualifications such as ECS (JIB), NVQ3, AM2, 18th Edition
