3 month contract role with a Local Authority
Job Summary
Slough Borough Council is seeking a Data Analyst for a 12-week temporary contract to work primarily on Adult Services systems. The role involves developing and maintaining dashboards, data pipelines, and technical infrastructure to support management information, KPIs, statutory reporting, and insights for evidence-based decision-making. The postholder will work closely with colleagues across the Council to ensure high-quality, integrated data and to provide actionable insights. Tools involved include Liquidlogic, Controcc, Agresso (desirable), SQL, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample)
* Create, maintain, and develop data dashboards, reports, and visualisations to support business decisions.
* Integrate and manage disparate data sources, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and usability.
* Support colleagues in interpreting data and provide actionable insights for service improvement and operational efficiency.
* Undertake analytical projects to generate insights from complex datasets, including both internal and external sources.
* Work with data professionals and external suppliers to build data products and services, applying modern analytical techniques.
* Translate findings into clear, visual, and textual reports suitable for senior stakeholders and business users.
* Ensure compliance with council policies, standards, and security requirements.
* Participate in cross-functional projects and help implement the council’s data strategy.
Skills/Experience
* Experience with data analysis, dashboards, and visualisation (Power BI essential).
* Ability to extract, clean, link, enhance, and model complex datasets.
* Knowledge of SQL, Microsoft Fabric, and preferably Liquidlogic, Controcc, Agresso.
* Experience working with large, messy, and complex datasets to generate actionable insights.
* Strong statistical and analytical skills; ability to apply techniques to real-world business problems.
* Ability to translate technical analysis into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
* Experience in public sector data or local authority systems desirable.
* Strong communication skills, able to work with internal teams, senior management, and external partners.
* Experience in cross-functional team projects and collaborative service improvement initiatives.
