Overview
We’re working with a growing software company in Altrincham looking for an Infrastructure & Application Support Engineer to join their infrastructure department. This is a varied role combining application deployment, migrations, and 3rd line support across both hosted (SaaS) and on-premises environments.
You’ll be joining a small, collaborative team where you’ll work on projects, installations, and customer-facing support. The company has a reputation for long staff tenure thanks to its open, supportive culture and ongoing investment in training and progression.
What you’ll be doing
* Deploying, configuring, and supporting bespoke applications for customers in hosted and on-premises environments.
* Managing installations, migrations, and upgrades of applications and infrastructure.
* Troubleshooting complex technical issues, working across application, infrastructure, and user layers.
* Supporting both Windows and Linux environments.
* Installing and configuring Microsoft SQL Server as part of application deployments (not DBA-level).
* Working directly with customers and external IT teams to ensure smooth deployments and problem resolution.
* Producing and maintaining clear documentation for installations and support processes.
* Contributing to a collaborative team environment where knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are encouraged.
What we’re looking for
* Strong experience in application deployment and support, ideally within a 3rd line or technical consultant role.
* Solid knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, IIS, and SQL Server installation/configuration.
* Some exposure to Linux environments (even basic administration is fine).
* Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills, with the ability to diagnose issues across multiple layers.
* Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with both technical and non-technical customers.
* A proactive, curious mindset and willingness to get involved in a broad range of work.
