Role: KS2 Teaching Assistant
Location: Gainsborough, Lincolnshire
Start date: January 2026
Contract: January 2026 – May 2026 (part-time, afternoons only 5 days per week)
Salary: £90-£100 per day (depending on experience, role and/or qualifications).
About the role
Heart of Supply is looking for a committed and supportive Year 6 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Gainsborough from January to May 2026, working afternoons each week. This part-time role focuses on supporting pupils as they prepare for their SATs, giving them the confidence and skills they need to succeed.
You will work closely with the Year 6 class teacher to deliver targeted support through small-group interventions and one-to-one activities, particularly in reading, writing and maths. You’ll play a key part in building pupils’ confidence, helping them develop resilience, and ensuring they feel supported during this crucial stage of their primary journey.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lead-up to SATs, working within a friendly, supportive school environment where staff are passionate about helping every child reach their potential.
About the school
This primary school serves a diverse community where the school is filled with warmth, dedication and a deep commitment to giving every child the very best start. Staff work hard to create a safe, stable and nurturing environment where pupils feel valued, supported and able to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Relationships are at the heart of everything the school does. The team is incredibly caring and consistent, building trust with pupils who may need a little extra patience, understanding and positive reinforcement. Behaviour is approached with empathy, structure and clear boundaries, and staff use de-escalation techniques to help children feel calm, regulated and ready to learn. This is a school that truly believes in equality of opportunity. They celebrate every child for who they are and are passionate about helping each one grow in confidence, resilience and ambition. For the right person, it is a deeply rewarding place to work, a school where you can make a genuine difference every single day.
What you will need:
* Previous experience supporting children in a primary school, ideally in Upper Key Stage 2
* Confidence working with Year 6 pupils and supporting SATs preparation
* A calm, patient approach and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils
* Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to encourage focus and engagement
* Flexibility to support interventions, small-group work and one-to-one activities as required
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude
* A relevant qualification (Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) is desirable but not essential for experienced candidates
What we offer you:
* Competitive weekly PAYE pay
* Roles tailored to your lifestyle - day-to-day or longer term
* Access to exclusive opportunities in great local schools
* A friendly, experienced consultant who listens
* Free CPD and ongoing professional development
* A simple ‘Refer a Friend’ scheme
* A warm, supportive agency that genuinely cares about you and your journey
We’re fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. All applicants will undergo thorough vetting, including enhanced DBS (with children’s barred list check and Update Service registration), references, and online checks as part of our compliance process.
