<div><h3>Overview</h3><p>An excellent opportunity to work for a leading client within the science and technology industry, we are currently recruiting for a R&D Scientist to work as part of a high performing team who specialise in the development of display technology materials working with some of the world leading brands.</p><p>The role will be based at their Research Labs based in Southampton and will be on site 5 days per week, the position will be heavily hands on and lab based and will be responsible for presenting data and research back to stakeholders and your team.</p><p>Liquid Crystals, Polymer Science, Reactive Mesogens, material science is favourable</p><p>We are looking for a passionate, motivated and team player to join a well established team who will offer excellent support, advice and guidance.</p><h3>Qualifications</h3><p>Ideal Degree within</p><ul><li>Chemistry</li><li>Material Science</li></ul><h3>Role Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Experience in measurement of physical properties of samples (viscosity, VHR, UV/Vis transmission) and films (retardation profiles, extent of polymerization, surface energy determination, film profile, film hardness, adhesion, blocking resistance, durability).</li><li>Passion for Science and Technology</li><li>Being collaborative and flexible is a must</li><li>Being results driven by making informed decisions and being accountable</li><li>Technical background in Liquid Crystals, Polymer Science, Reactive Mesogens, material science is favourable</li><li>Ability to accurately prepare RM mixtures and RM solutions in a traceable manner</li><li>Ability to handle complexity in a multi-national environment with different stakeholders and in different technology fields like AR/VR, Lenses, LIDAR and Holography</li><li>Ability to prepare RM films from these solutions using various coating techniques to prepare form +A / +C / ND +A / ND +C / CLC films, experience to prepare coatable polarizer films is favorable</li><li>Ability to measure the physical properties of samples (viscosity, UV/Vis transmission) and films (retardation profiles, extent of polymerisation, surface energy determination, film profile, film hardness, adhesion, blocking resistance, durability)</li><li>Willingness to perform hands-on lab work in an agile environment</li><li>Ability to prepare technical reports and have the skills to present these to customers</li><li>Develop and implement innovative solutions to technical problems in the field of Digital Optics for AR/VR</li><li>Carries out a range of non-routine technical tasks to solve problems of moderate complexity to produce RM films and their characterisation</li><li>Interact proactively within a range of internal technical functions / selected customers</li><li>Develop innovative new materials, IP and technical opportunities</li><li>Measure the physical properties of RM solutions and films using specialised techniques</li><li>Active involvement of other Experts</li><li>Ensure planned work is carried out according to project deadlines</li><li>Accountable for quality of own work</li><li>Frequently achieves technical breakthroughs</li><li>Provide non-routine reports and present to the project team, enabling clear and accurate reporting of results</li><li>Take responsibility for equipment and safe use of the lab environment around them</li></ul></div>
