We're currently looking for a dynamic Assistant Engineering Inspection Underwriter to join our team in the Guildford Office.

Role Description
As an Assistant Engineering Inspection Underwriter, you'll support our Underwriters in managing a dedicated portfolio of Allianz Inspection direct clients.
You'll play a key role in servicing accounts quoting and converting new business, driving strong renewal retention, negotiating terms, managing lapses, and resolving credit control queries. Throughout, you'll ensure all decisions and actions are consistent, efficient, and aligned with our underwriting guidelines to deliver profitable, high‑quality outcomes.
Manage your own panel of Allianz Inspection direct clients, delivering excellent service.
Communicate with clients by phone and email within agreed service standards.
Review and negotiate new business enquiries and support prospecting activity.
Handle existing business, including mid-term adjustments and renewal negotiations.
Prepare renewal and new business bids and tenders.
Attend client meetings both virtually and face to face.
Review plant information and update Allianz schedules as needed.
Resolve internal and external queries professionally and efficiently.
Work independently and collaboratively within a close-knit team.
Liaise with Credit Management to support accurate invoicing and premium collection.
Support wider teams with a proactive, positive approach.
Contribute ideas to improve processes in a fast‑changing environment.
Complete admin tasks such as invoicing, portal updates and monthly reporting.
Salary Information
Pay: Circa £30,000 per year.
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
Previous experience working in a professional environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word etc.)
Ability to embrace new upcoming technology
A positive attitude
Attention to detail and accuracy
A high level of motivation and commitment
A willingness to learn and develop
Passionate about doing a good job, the ability to work to daily targets and demonstrate that you are a team player
Essential Skills
Excellent organisational skills to independently prioritise a variety of work within your portfolio whilst working on multiple assignments
Previous experience working as an Assistant Underwriter
Able to work within our Guildford Office where the wider team are based.
Desirable Skills
Cert CII or DIP CII – not a requirement but should be happy to work towards
Responsible AI / Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage
Experience/ an understanding of the Inspection market is ideal but not essential
