HGV Waste & Recycling Driver Loader To ensure the collection of household waste and recycling using wheeled bins, sacks or other collection systems. To be responsible for the allocated vehicle (undertaking daily checks, applying defect reporting procedures, cleaning, fuelling etc); contribution to the completion of the service’s allocated work (including rectifying missed collections and completing assisted collections), motivating and organising the collection crew; completion of required paperwork (such as lock out sheets) and working in accordance with the Company’s values, beliefs, priorities, policies, procedures and objectives. For more information, please contact Steven Williams on 07966377099 Email: steven.williams@cheshireeast.gov.uk HGV Waste & Recycling Driver Loader – Job Description 1 Drive, operate and be responsible for the allocated vehicle and associated equipment in the correct, safe and effective manner at all times, including responsibility for the completion of all daily maintenance checks and inspections on allocated vehicles and reporting of any defects in line with the defect reporting procedure. Complete the regular cleaning of the vehicle and fitted equipment in accordance with agreed procedures. 2 Supervise all crew members whilst on the round ensuring they: are organised and motivated; wear the correct uniform and personal protective equipment; work in a safe and effective manner following procedures and working practises (for example return bins to safe locations, close gates, clean up spillages, completion of assisted lifts etc); use any work equipment (including bin lifts, mobile telephones and devices etc) in accordance with corporate policies and instructions, training and operators’ manuals. complete any missed collections given to the crew to rectify; and, report any accidents or incidents in accordance with the Authority’s policies and procedures. 3 Ensure that all requested management information is collated, completed accurately and returned on time eg lockout sheets – this may be in writing or through the use of mobile devices. Be responsible for any eg mobile telephones, mobile devices etc allocated to the crew. 4 Ensure the crew works as part of the wider Waste & Recycling collection team operating from your designated location to see the completion of the overall daily workload. Assist with loading bins/sacks on to the vehicle when appropriate. 5 Deal with any immediate problems arising with members of the public or staff members politely and in accordance with the Authority’s policies and procedures and report any breaches of the Authority’s policies and procedures including those relating to health and safety 6 Attend training courses, tool box talks, Personal Development Plans and other training as required. The post holder is required to be flexible, there will be a requirement to undertake duties associated with any of the services operated by the Waste & Recycling department.
