Proactive Personnel are currently recruiting for a Workshop Supervisor for a well-established yet rapidly growing company based in Mobberley. Our client is a specialist environmental and agricultural company that also hires out machinery with contracts across the UK. Contracts include forestry, local housing, agriculture, highways, commercial sites, and domestic homes. This is a full-time position for an experienced, mechanically biased supervisor who will manage 3-4 mechanics and be hands-on.
Workshop Supervisor Duties
Your main duties in the role of the Workshop Supervisor will include (but are not limited to):
* Hands-on fitter/mechanic
* Repair and service machines in coordination with the team
Administration
* Ensure all job cards are opened/closed in a timely manner
* Collaborate closely with the administrative team to support the workshop as required
* Cascade all service bulletins to staff
* Action all vehicle recalls
* Manage service vans according to policy
* Work with stores to minimize downtime
* Ensure staff training is up-to-date
* Seek approval from the workshop manager before authorizing overtime or out-of-hours work
* Care for, store, and inventory specialist tools properly
* Discuss training requests regularly with staff
* Maintain updated housekeeping standards
Workshop Planning
* Ensure effective planning for all service and inspection tasks
* Complete workshop activities promptly, including onsite and offsite inspections
* Plan work according to staff availability
Workshop Supervision
* Supervise and coordinate assigned personnel
* Assign, supervise, and participate in mechanical repairs and diagnostics
* Prioritize work orders and schedule workflow
* Ensure all work has a job card before commencement
* Manage staff effectively within the reporting chain
* Maintain records and reports
* Conduct in-service training with equipment suppliers
* Participate in hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff
* Handle requisitions for materials and equipment, and authorize purchases
* Provide technical guidance to the team
* Ensure quality checks before returning jobs to end users
* Monitor tools, equipment, safety practices, and establish workshop safety policies in conjunction with HSE
* Service, maintain, and repair operational vehicles and specialist equipment, including appliances, hydraulic platforms, Unimogs, Land Rovers, water carriers, boats, and fire service equipment
* Perform any other duties as reasonably required
