Part of the Northern Industries Group, Steelway Ltd has been trading for almost 100 years and is an expert in secondary/access metalwork. We design and manufacture metal flooring, walkways, staircases, platforms, ladders, fire escapes, handrails, balustrades, and heritage & architectural metalwork along with general fabrication in mild steel, stainless steel and GRP. We invest in fabrication facilities, plant and equipment, robotic welding systems, automatic laser cutting and CAD/CAM.
About the Role
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit skilled and time‑served Fabricator/Welders to join our team in Wolverhampton. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a wide range of structural steelwork, access metalwork, and bespoke fabrication projects. You’ll be part of a hands‑on production team, responsible for delivering high‑quality fabricated components in line with engineering drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
 * Fabricate from engineering drawings and job packs.
 * Carry out tacking and welding (MIG) to a high standard across mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium (where applicable).
 * Operate fabrication equipment including saws, drills, grinders, and presses.
 * Ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently within agreed timescales.
 * Maintain quality control standards throughout the fabrication and welding process.
 * Work collaboratively with production, design, and installation teams.
 * Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
 * Support continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.
 * Contribute to a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
Key Skills & Experience
 * Proven experience as a fabricator/welder in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
 * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
 * Proficiency in MIG welding (TIG and MMA experience advantageous).
 * Skilled in general fabrication processes - cutting, folding, drilling, and assembly.
 * Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
 * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
 * Good problem‑solving skills and a proactive attitude.
 * Understanding of workshop health and safety practices.
 * Forklift or crane operation experience is beneficial (training provided if required).
