Assistant Team Manager, Children's Services

Making a Difference as Assistant Team Manager in Children’s Services

This is a pivotal role in our teams, supporting the management of, and leading a team of qualified social care staff and support workers, who undertake children’s social care safeguarding assessments, support, and intervention services to vulnerable children.

To apply for this post, we will need you to have a knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and associated guidance with reference to the Council’s duties and responsibilities, knowledge and understanding of complex child protection issues, an understanding of child development and the impact of abuse and deprivation on development and an understanding of the concept of working in partnership with families.

We are seeking individuals with a minimum of 3 years post- qualification experience in a social work setting including child protection work. You will have CQSW, CSS, Dip SW Registered Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England, or will apply for registration before taking up the post. This is an exciting opportunity for you to utilise existing skills and develop new ones. You will receive continuous support, development, and career progression opportunities on your journey with us.

The current post is within the Duty Service. This service is responsible for responding to all referrals, completing assessments, and undertaking sec 47 enquiries. Once assessments are completed and a plan agreed, cases will either be held for short review, or transferred to Help and Protection teams for longer term intervention as CP or PLO, long term CIN.

The posts include some home working but will require you to regularly attend the St Helens office and travel around the St Helens and surrounding areas.

This post is subject to Social Work England and Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
