Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

What you’ll be doing:
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering theories, concepts, practices, principles, and approaches. Apply theoretical engineering knowledge, experience, and skills to develop products and services, specifications, designs, and developments. Resolve technical and performance issues for products or services.
* Support Mechanical Systems and equipment within the scope of the Submarine Support Motion Control Contract.
* Design and develop solutions to a range of mechanical design problems or situations.
* Work as part of a wider project team under limited technical supervision.
* Understand and apply a range of design processes, tools, systems, and techniques.
* Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and with other functions.
* Support and respond to technical queries from stakeholders as required.
* Apply knowledge of Engineering Governance and assurance processes (e.g., Life Cycle Management).
* Review, amend, and draft technical documentation (e.g., reports, test procedures).
Your skills and experiences:
* Engineering degree or working towards CEng level (or equivalent capability).
* Demonstrable experience in mechanical engineering.
* Ability to make judgments based on knowledge and experience of similar situations.
* Ability to assess the viability and applicability of solutions, evaluate alternatives based on understanding previous solutions and factual analysis.
* Experience in Thermal Systems, Fluid Power (e.g., Hydraulics), or Computational Fluid Dynamics.

The Submarine Support Motion Control team:
Provides comprehensive service and support to mission-critical Motion Control Systems for the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet.
