Are you an enthusiastic Maths lecturer who enjoys helping learners overcome barriers and build confidence?

We’re looking for a committed and forward-thinking Lecturer – Maths to join our Maths & English Department on a full-time, permanent basis and help shape positive outcomes for learners across our community.

Based across our accessible campuses, including Rush Green, Barking & Dagenham College prepares young people and adults with the essential skills they need to progress into employment, apprenticeships or further study. Our Maths and English provision plays a critical role in that journey.

The Role

As a Maths Lecturer, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching that engages, challenges and supports learners across 16–18 and adult provision. You’ll contribute to the ongoing development of our curriculum, working collaboratively within a supportive department focused on continuous improvement and innovation.

You’ll be responsible for:

1. Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured Maths lessons, including schemes of work
2. Designing and implementing learner-centred assessment with clear, developmental feedback
3. Monitoring and supporting learner attendance, progress and achievement
4. Providing coaching and pastoral support to designated learners
5. Contributing to a safe, inclusive learning environment and promoting positive behaviours
6. Keeping your subject knowledge current to ensure teaching remains relevant and employability-focused
7. Actively engaging in professional development and quality improvement activity

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a motivated educator who is passionate about Maths and learner progression. We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and aspiring lecturers. You’ll either:

8. Hold a recognised teaching qualification with experience teaching in Further or Higher Education, or
9. Hold a qualification in Maths (or a related subject) and be willing to work towards a teaching qualification through our Passport to Teaching programme

In addition, you’ll have:

10. A learner-focused approach with strong communication skills
11. Good organisational and administrative skills, including accurate tracking of learner data
12. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to support colleagues and contribute to shared goals
13. A commitment to equality, safeguarding and inclusive practice
