Recruit to Train CBT Therapist within Mental Health Support Teams
Surrey Mental Health Support Teams in Schools invites applications for a Recruit to Train Trainee CBT Therapist as part of the NHS England funded Children and Young People (CYP) Psychological Training Programmes (formerly CYP‑IAPT). The successful applicant will attend a fully funded one‑year training, completing a Post Graduate Diploma in CYP‑PT therapies in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) whilst carrying out clinical work within our service.
Main Duties
 * Attend funded training and complete the Post Graduate Diploma in CYP‑PT therapies.
 * Carry out clinical work, providing interventions for children, young people and families using evidence‑based CBT techniques.
 * Work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when required.
 * Commit to equity, diversity and inclusion throughout practice.
 * Travel to schools and sites across Woking and surrounding areas as required.
 * After training, continue employment within MHST as a Band 6 Senior Clinician, delivering clinical work, consultation and supporting whole‑school approaches.
Person Specification
Qualifications
 * Capacity to complete academic work at postgraduate diploma level.
 * Minimum second‑class Bachelor’s Degree from a UK university or an equivalent overseas qualification in a relevant subject (e.g., psychology, social work).
 * Training in a mental‑health related profession (e.g., psychology, nursing, health visiting, social work, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, special needs teaching, psychiatry, other psychotherapy, counselling).
Experience
 * Ideally at least two years’ experience working with children/young people in a mental‑health setting.
 * Experience of working with safeguarding issues.
 * Experience of multi‑agency working and liaising across internal & external agencies.
 * Desirable: previous experience working within a CBT framework.
Training and Development
The role is funded by HEE; after successful completion of the training year you will continue with the MHST as a Band 6 Senior Clinician, delivering the full range of MHST functions.

Job Details
Location: Unither House, Chertsey, KT16 9FG. Salary: £40,617 per year (incl. 5% Fringe).
