Overview
Knott-Avonride Ltd manufactures light trailer axles and is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Production Planner to join our team on an initial 6-month fixed-term basis, with the possibility of extension depending on business needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating production schedules to ensure efficient operations and optimal resource utilisation. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain processes and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to meet production goals.
Duties
* Prepare production schedules based on customer demand, sales forecasts, and available inventory.
* Coordinate with the Production and Warehouse Supervisor(s) to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods.
* Update production plans based on changes in customer demand and production capabilities.
* Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to meet deadlines.
* Ensure production goals are met, including production efficiency, on-time delivery, and quality standards.
* Issue (when required) Production Works Orders (WIP Operation Sheets) to Production for build in line with critical stock and sales orders.
* Liaise with the Purchasing department and Manager (on any site) to ensure the timely procurement of materials, minimising stock shortages or excess inventory.
* Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on production status and performance metrics.
* Communicate any production delays, challenges, or issues to the management team and/or Board of Directors.
* To be flexible in approach by undertaking unspecified other duties as deemed relevant by responsible Managers and/or Board members.
Experience & Personal Attributes
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or a related role in a manufacturing environment.
* Proficient in all aspects of an MRP integrated software package.
* Knowledge of inventory management, lean manufacturing, and process optimisation.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree (preferred but not mandatory)
