Job Purpose
The Head of Product Evaluation at Tropic provides a crucial link between Product Management, Commercial, Research and Crop activities. The role includes the planning and implementation of trials following product lifecycle development (Proof of Concept, Early Product Development and Late Product Development), ensuring adequate resources are available for the evaluation, determination and analysis of these different trials. The Head of Product Evaluation is both directly involved in trials, trial management and trial evaluation, whilst managing the evaluation team responsible for the detailed planning, management and analysis of Tropic’s field trial portfolio. Trials include the evaluation of both agronomic plant performance and post-harvest fruit evaluations at our HQ in Norwich.
The Head of Product Evaluation also plays a key role in ensuring that we meet our Excellence Through Stewardship (ETS) and Plant Breeding Innovation (PBI) commitments.
Responsibilities
* Plan and direct the work of the Product Evaluation team to manage Tropic’s field trial portfolio
* Assure that all regulatory and ETS requirements are communicated to study participants, and external partner organizations and are strictly observed
* Liaise with Crops, Product Management and Sales teams in the planning, development and implementation of all trials
* Evaluate the field and analytical data and prepare final study reports
* Maintain well organized supporting data files suitable for internal and external (regulatory) auditing
* Use electronic data tools for the forecasting of test entries, study planning and initiation, data collection and report preparation
* Support the management of business relationships with external contractors and partners in the performance of regulated field trials
* Monitor and evaluate the performance of external partners
Requirements
* Educated to a minimum of Bsc level within a relevant field
* Extensive experience in regulated field studies or related disciplines
* Dedication to generation and interpretation of high-quality data and strict compliance with all relevant regulations
* Track record of conducting multiple, complex scientific projects
* Ability to prioritize tasks in a frequently changing environment
* Recognized strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment leading to constructive interactions
* Experience in managing teams and multiple tasks concurrently
Desirable:
* Experience with banana and/or rice crops and trials
