About the Role
We’re looking for a dynamic Workshop Controller to lead the daily operations of our fast-paced workshop in Dorchester. In this key role, you’ll coordinate workflow, oversee quality and safety, and ensure vehicle repairs and maintenance are completed to the highest standards. You’ll work closely with technicians, service advisors, and the VDA team, ensuring seamless communication and efficient job planning.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the day-to-day running of the workshop, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
*
Allocate tasks to technicians based on skill level and workload to maximise productivity.
*
Perform quality control checks to ensure work meets manufacturer and industry standards.
*
Collaborate with service advisors to keep customers updated and informed.
*
Ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations.
*
Work closely with the Parts team to manage stock and maintain a continuous workflow.
*
Mentor and support your team, encouraging development and maintaining a positive working environment.
*
Assist the VDA team with vehicle damage assessments and job planning.
About You
You’ll have a strong technical background in the automotive repair industry—ideally with hands-on experience as an MET, Panel, or Paint Technician, or as a VDA—with some supervisory or management experience.
You’ll also bring:

In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems, repair methods, and workshop operations.

Proven leadership and organisational skills with the ability to manage pressure and multitask.
*
Excellent communication and people skills.
*
A solid understanding of health and safety practices.
*
Confidence using workshop management systems and estimating software (Audatex experience desirable).
*
A valid UK driving licence.
