Medical Secretary Urology – NHS Scotland
We are looking for a permanent full‑time Medical Secretary to support a Consultant and their team in Urology at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The role requires 37 hours per week, with shift pattern negotiable. Effective 1 April 2026, all Agenda for Change posts will reduce to 36 hours.
Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to Consultant(s) and their team(s).
* Act as focal point for service enquiries, providing advice to staff, patients and professionals.
* Coordinate patient pathways for both inpatient and outpatient care.
* Schedule and prioritise workload to meet NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Scottish Government targets.
* Assist in organising and prioritising Consultant(s) administrative work, including notifications of cancellations or reductions in clinical sessions.
* Maintain confidentiality, diplomacy and high levels of discretion in all interactions.
* Complete all statutory and mandatory training and develop individual training plans with the line manager.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience with NHS systems, especially Trak and Clinical Portal.
* Desirable experience with waiting list management.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to exercise initiative and resourcefulness in a high‑volume environment.
