Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:

Do you enjoy watching movies? Going on holiday? Spending time in the garden? Going bowling? Going out for dinner?

Do you love seeing people flourish and living their best lives?

Then the people we support at School Close in Kirkcudbright would love to meet you!

At School Close, we support 12 individuals with learning disabilities and autism to live in their own self-contained flats in Kirkcudbright. This is a supported living service, which means we support each person to live life the way they want to, ensuring they are supported to make their own decisions, plan their days and enjoy everything that life has to offer!

The people we support all have different backgrounds, abilities and interests, and their Support Workers help each person to live as independently as possible. We aim to provide support tailored to each person, ensuring we “do with” not “do for” wherever possible.

Some of the people we support need a hand with medication or with personal care, but most of the time you’ll be helping them to live their daily lives and support them to get out into the community and do the things they love.

Our team provide support 24 hours a day, so we are looking for some flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including some weekends and waking nights. Our day shifts are typically worked between 8am and 10pm with shifts that can vary in length from 8 - 12.5 hours. We are currently recruiting for bank/casual Support Workers only.

Your values:

The people we support like to be supported by people who respect them and their homes, but who also like to have fun!

We like people who are reliable and honest, so the people we support can build trust and know that you have their best interests at heart.

It’s important that you are reliable and honest and can communicate well with everyone.
