Role Overview
The Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing tendering, commercial control, and financial performance across construction projects. This role involves providing commercial expertise, ensuring compliance with HSQE procedures, supporting project delivery, and maintaining strong communication with clients and internal stakeholders. The position also supports the Commercial Manager and contributes to overall business strategy and performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for tender preparation, submission and project completion in compliance with all HSQE procedures
* Provide commercial expertise to contracts, including the production and submission of valuations, claims, and budget monitoring
* Support the authorisation and submission of project variations
* Track changes to the work and design, adjusting budget projections accordingly
* Prepare financial and progress data for meetings and payments as required
* Authorise the placement of contracts, subcontracts, material and plant orders
* Value work executed by subcontractors and certify interim and final payments
* Maximise cash flow through the control, measurement and valuation of work, including invoicing customers and payment of suppliers
* Ensure final accounts are prepared in a timely and accurate manner
* Assist with the monthly CVR process
* Ensure compliance with all company and HSQE procedures
* Maintain auditable records
* Liaise with clients and construction professionals including Project Managers and Site Managers
* Report findings and highlight any issues to senior management on a weekly basis
* Support the Commercial Manager with departmental requirements and KPIs
* Ensure projects proceed to client specification and satisfaction
* Travel and visit sites nationwide when required
* Undertake all other duties and tasks required to support business needs and strategy
* Deputise for the Commercial Manager when required
Requirements
* Quantity Surveying Degree (UK)
* High level of Microsoft package xsngvjr knowledge
* 13 years previous experience essential
* Demonstrates clear and professional communication, both written and verbal
* Shows initiative, reliability and strong personal accountability
* Effectively manages workload and meets agreed deadlines
* Follows up on actions and commitments in a timely manner
* Maintains professional and respectful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Shows flexibility and a positive attitude, contributing to the wider team when needed
