We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Health Physics Surveyor to join our team at NUVIA.
About the Role
* Function and source checking of various radiation protection instrumentation.
* Carry out radiological monitoring within nuclear facilities, ensuring accurate readings and recordings.
* Count and assess air samples from various designations.
* Advise the working party on radiological conditions and maintain the principles of ALARP.
* Monitor in high hazard environments including designated Supervised areas, R2, R3, R4 / C0, C2, C3, C4.
* Ensure compliance with permits and complete work safety assessments.
* Set up, maintain, and de-classify radiation and contamination-controlled areas.
* Maintain safety and compliance under site licence conditions, Ionising Radiation Regulations, Environmental Permitting Regulations, and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Apply appropriate control methods when handling activated or contaminated items.
* Perform radiological monitoring during events or emergencies.
* Train and mentor new recruits in the full range of HP Surveyor duties.
* Report to the Health Physics Charge Hand / Supervisor / Site Manager / Package Manager.
Occupational Skills and Qualifications
* City and Guilds in Radiation Safety Practice – Stage 1 or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 2 in Radiation Protection.
* Level 5 Health Physics Monitoring (NDA).
* Level 3 Health Physics Monitoring (EDF).
* Good working knowledge of the IRRs.
* Experience working within a radiological environment.
