* Support the examination of plans and acceptance of new or modified radiation sources, ensuring appropriate design features and warning devices.
* Assist with the calibration, testing and serviceability checks of radiation-monitoring equipment.
* Contribute to periodic examination and testing of engineering and safety features, as well as systems of work controlling exposure.
* Provide advice on IRR17 requirements, including risk assessments, area designation, investigations, contingency plans, and dose assessment/recording.
* Ensure all advice is provided in consultation with the RPA and formally recorded for audit.
* Provide guidance on safety issues associated with working with beryllium.
* Support health physics practitioners to ensure advice aligns with IRR17, COSHH and EA permit requirements.
* Assist HPs/RPAs with technical input to HAZOP, ALARP, BAT/BPM and controlled-document activities, and contribute to procedures, documentation and RIVO reviews.
* Produce and deliver training on beryllium safety, radiological protection and other health-physics topics, and support new-build projects and emergency response as required.

As part of the 20% dedicated to training and development, you will complete a core suite of activities aimed at enhancing your professional and business skills, with flexibility to tailor the programme to both your personal development and the needs of your specific role.

Qualifications
