The Role & Department
* You will report directly to the Premises Manager and work alongside a team of Site Assistants and Caretakers.
* Secondary school environments are fast-paced; you will manage a wide variety of tasks ranging from emergency repairs to event logistics.
* This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a physical, hands-on job and takes pride in maintaining high standards across a large, busy site.
* Shift patterns may vary, including early morning openings or evening closings to facilitate school lettings and extracurricular activities.

Core Responsibilities
1. Maintenance & Repairs: Performing basic "first-fix" repairs, including minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, and decorating to ensure the fabric of the building is well-maintained.
2. Site Security: Assisting with the daily lock-up and unlock procedures, conducting perimeter checks, and ensuring all visitors follow the school’s signing-in and security protocols.
3. Logistics & Porterage: Moving furniture and equipment to set up for whole-school events such as assemblies, GCSE/A-Level exams, and parents' evenings.
4. Health & Safety Compliance: Carrying out routine safety checks, including fire alarm testing, flushing water outlets for Legionella prevention, and ensuring all walkways are clear of hazards.
5. Grounds Maintenance: Keeping the school grounds, play areas, and car parks clean, tidy, and safe, particularly during adverse weather conditions (e.g., gritting during winter).

The Successful Candidate We are looking for a reliable individual with a "can-do" attitude. Requirements include:
* Practical Skills: Basic competency in DIY or a trade (plumbing, electrical, or joinery) is highly advantageous.
* Physical Fitness: The role involves significant walking, lifting, and working at heights (ladder work), requiring a high level of physical resilience.
