Senior Trader Reports to: Trading Manager Location: Leicester Office (Potential for some hybrid working) Working hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week As a Senior Trader, you will be a part of an experienced Trading and Pricing team responsible for the purchasing of circa 4 TWh of gas and power per annum for our portfolio of business customers, along with green certificates. Thus role is central to managing the company’s market exposure, with a focus on hedging strategy, risk mitigation, and value optimisation across an ever volatile commodity market. This is an exciting role within a fast paced and critical function of the business. What We Need from Yü as a Senior Trader Here’s a taste of what you’ll be doing: Develop and execute hedging strategies across gas, power, and green certificate markets (REGOs, ROCs, RGGOs) Manage exposure to wholesale price movements, shape risk, and weather driven volatility. Continuously assess and refine hedge position along with monitoring of price curves to pricing/sales. Provide clear visibility of risk positions, P&L, and hedge effectiveness. Develop analytical models for trading and market insight, to facilitate optimisation of portfolio value. Assist in reporting of positions and value to key stakeholders. Support the team on the day to day running of the trading desk and resolution of operational queries. Ad hoc support on reporting for internal and external purposes. About Yü If you have what it takes, you could be just what we’re looking for… A degree in Maths, Science or similar numerate discipline. Highly numerate with an unparalleled attention to detail and confident delivering incremental change towards the end goal. Experience in the energy industry within a trading or hedging department is beneficial but not essential. Experience in Python, or alternative programming knowledge is beneficial. Strong computer proficiency and in particular Excel. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary service. Self-motivated with an ability to work independently.
