The Role
This position is within the Saab Seaeye Business Unit in Fareham, reporting to the Supply Chain Manager. The Buyer will support Strategic Buyers in managing procurement activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of materials, goods, and services.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage end-to-end procurement, from order placement to delivery.
* Purchase components and services professionally.
* Assist Project/NPI and Commodity Strategic Buyers with procurement tasks such as tender requests, purchase orders, and ERP/MRP data maintenance.
* Manage reschedule messages aligned with Material Requirement Plan (MRP).
* Maintain purchase order dates and supplier lead times in line with MRP and supplier agreements.
* Monitor and act on call-off orders.
* Ensure supplier pricing and lead times are current in MRP.
* Procure items optimizing price, quality, and delivery.
* Evaluate supplier performance with the Quality Department.
* Collaborate with Engineering to resolve technical supply issues and ensure timely parts delivery.
* Ensure purchase and contract terms protect the company and are appropriate.
* Monitor reorder levels in GEM, expedite orders, and oversee stock-holding programs.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit.
Skills & Experience
* ERP system proficiency.
* At least 3 years' experience in a similar procurement role.
* Intermediate Excel skills.
