Senior Health & Safety Manager
Full-Time, Permanent. Contractual Location: Hinkley Point C. Minimum 4 days a week on site.
Role Overview
As a senior member of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) Site Construction management team, you will report directly to the Head of Construction Health and Safety. You will set and maintain the highest standards of health, wellbeing and safety across the site, collaborating with senior leaders, contractors and operational staff to influence a proactive safety culture.
Responsibilities
* Act as the trusted deputy to the Head of Construction Health & Safety, managing departmental activities and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
* Oversee the development and implementation of Principal Contractor arrangements, tailored to the evolving risk profile of the site.
* Resolve emerging site safety issues, promote a safety-first culture and drive continuous improvement across all levels.
* Manage relationships with regulators such as the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and support emergency response planning.
* Lead and coach senior managers to elevate their safety culture, and ensure the team is trained, supported and empowered.
* Support departmental budgeting and contribute to the strategic direction of health and safety at HPC.
Qualifications & Experience
* Extensive experience in large‑scale construction projects, ideally within EPC environments.
* Strong knowledge of national and international health, safety and environmental standards, including CDM Regulations and Nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
* Chartered member (or working towards) of a recognised HSE organisation and holder of a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
* Proficiency in behavioural leadership, emergency response planning and managing high‑performing teams in dynamic environments.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to build trust‑based relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels, from site operatives to senior executives.
Security Vetting
Must meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which generally requires having been a UK resident for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
