Job Title: Technical Estimator & Sales Administrator – Service business Department: Service Location: Colchester The Woods business was established in 1909 and continues to manufacture in Colchester, United Kingdom. We have around 250 people across all business functions from sales through design and product assembly & testing, as well as businesses in USA, UK, Germany & Singapore. Woods is a brand of Fläkt Group which is an international leader in wider HVAC products, systems, services, and solutions. As part of the wider group, Woods products are sold into multiple global applications through various routes to market including Group Companies, Agents & Distributors, Key Accounts as well as direct B2B. The Colchester site is also the Centre of Excellence for the group for all Axial, Air Movement and Fire Safety products and serves to enable product & system sales in Building Services, Industrial, Original Equipment, and Tunnel & Metro applications globally. Our brand and product range is internationally recognised and flexible, from short-lead-time standard products through to technically complex design-to-order products. Manufacturing activities on site in Colchester include Assembly, Product Test, Stamping, Machining, Fabrication, and metal forming. Main Purpose of Role: Work closely with sales colleagues and in partnership with customers and suppliers to develop technically and commercially accurate Service & Remedial quotations, including follow-up to point of order. Main Duties & Responsibilities: •Provide support to customers, responding appropriately to all commercial requests. •Ensure all enquiries are professionally handled and processed in accordance with company policy and customer deadline dates. •Fully review the technical requirements contained within customers’ enquiry, or Engineers Service Report, and issue quotations accordingly, with supporting comments on any deviations. •Liaise with Suppliers regarding non-standard items required to meet customer requirements and retain records, lead times, technical details and costing. •Prepare technical submittals, incorporating full details of selections/products offered if required by the customer/enquiry. •Co-ordinate & verify fan selections with Engineering or other support functions. •Co-ordinate system calculation with Customers, Suppliers and Engineering, verification and submission to Customers, in support of the Enquiry. •Provide high level of service to customers, answering any general queries & technical guidance required. •Identify upselling opportunities wherever possible, e.g., refurbishment, retrofit, replacement projects and additional Service Contracts, and handover to Sales colleagues to pursue. •Maintain accurate costing method for all quotations issued, ensuring non-standard products are clearly defined and available to manufacture. •Achieve quotation return dates requested by the customer to the minimum target of 90% on time. Continue to inform customers of delays or extensions required to complete the quotation. •Follow-up quotations issued to customers on a regular basis, working with the Sales Team and local Agents towards achievement of order intake targets. •Handover all information and knowledge to Operations / Project Management Team at point of order placement. •Attend any Project handover / kick-off meetings as required. Person Specification/Profile: •Highly motivated, the candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent commercial skills. •Relevant experience within a manufacturing or equipment servicing environment. •Ability to create accurate quotations and costing reports bespoke to each project. •Good Interpersonal skills, being comfortable and able to communicate effectively at all levels from customers, suppliers and internal departments. •Good lateral thinking, attention to detail and problem-solving skills. •Good prioritisation skills •Team player •The candidate will have a general understanding of contract terms and conditions. •Fully conversant in Excel and MS Office skills, and ideally knowledge of Woods product range and systems. •An understanding of, or any experience of working within, the ventilation, air movement, and/or smoke control industry would be a distinct advantage.
