The role
Area Support Manager
Salary: £37,000 per annum
Benefits: Company vehicle, laptop and mobile phone provided
Hours: 40 hours per week, flexibility required to support branch needs across the area
Location: Multi-site role across designated pharmacy branches. Ideal location of candidate would be Central Belt
Weekend Requirement: Saturday on-call support on a rotational basis

We’re looking for an energetic, people-focused Area Support Manager who thrives on helping teams succeed.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll work closely with Pharmacy Managers and branch teams to deliver exceptional patient care, strong commercial performance and high operational standards across a group of pharmacies.
You’ll be the person who helps branches overcome challenges, develops talented teams, drives performance and ensures every location is operating at its best. No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving and making a genuine impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting Branch Success
- Work alongside Pharmacy Managers to deliver excellent operational and clinical performance
- Provide practical support to branches during periods of change, growth or staffing challenges
- Help branches achieve key NHS and private service targets
- Drive consistency, standards and best practice across all locations
- Ensure branches provide outstanding patient and customer experiences
Leading and Developing People
- Coach and support Pharmacy Managers in their day-to-day leadership responsibilities
- Help identify and develop future talent within the business
- Support recruitment, onboarding and colleague development
- Guide managers through employee relations matters and performance conversations
- Build a positive culture focused on accountability, engagement and teamwork
Driving Performance
- Monitor branch performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Support branches in achieving service, retail and operational targets
- Develop and implement improvement plans where required
- Analyse key performance data and turn insights into actions
- Support effective workforce planning and cost management
Ensuring Quality and Compliance
- Conduct branch visits, audits and operational reviews
- Promote adherence to company procedures and regulatory requirements
- Support incident investigations and continuous improvement activities
- Help maintain inspection-ready standards across all branches
- Identify and escalate risks appropriately
Working as a Key Business Partner
- Act as the link between branches and senior leadership
- Support the implementation of new initiatives and business improvements
- Share best practice across the region
- Provide regular updates on branch performance and opportunities

Essential Skills
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication and coaching ability
- Organised with strong attention to detail
- Confident using performance data to drive results
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across different locations
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience
- Previous pharmacy experience
- Experience managing multiple sites within pharmacy, healthcare or retail
- Knowledge of NHS and private pharmacy services
- Experience supporting employee relations and HR processes
- Retail management experience
