GSL Education are currently seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to work in schools in Nottingham from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students who may face social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, helping them to thrive in the classroom and beyond.
Role Overview:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional behaviour support. You’ll help them regulate emotions, re-engage with learning, and develop the skills to succeed both socially and academically.
Responsibilities as a Behaviour Support Assistant:
* Support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups with behaviour management strategies.
* Help create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment.
* De-escalate challenging situations with empathy and calmness.
* Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement behaviour support plans.
* Encourage positive choices, confidence, and emotional well-being.
* Maintain detailed records of incidents and progress where required.
Requirements for the Behaviour Support Assistant role:
* Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs (in education, youth work, or care).
* Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
* Patience, consistency, and calm demeanour under pressure.
* A passion for helping young people reach their full potential.
* Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
* A full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment in the last 10 years.
