Job responsibilities RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY RESULT AREAS
Clinical Responsibilities:
Be available for duty doctor duties to answer patients telephone queries or carry out emergency home visits, or surgery consultations as appropriate
Complies with relevant Practice / ICB policy/guidelines.
Is committed to lifelong learning and audit and effectiveness issues to ensure evidence based best practice.
Actively assist the team in the process of health needs research/base line data collection/clinical audit.
To network with other agencies e.g. statutory and voluntary establishments, and to develop appropriate links to further the work of the practice.
The Practice is committed to continuous professional development and the successful applicant will be expected to meet the CPD requirements of the ICB, including participation in annual appraisal, and also to participate in meetings and to liaise with colleagues in the team to facilitate their attendance of courses and conferences.
All medical staff employed by the practice are expected to comply with practice policies and procedures.
Practice Responsibilities:
Consults with patients in the surgery and at home visits as required

Involved in developing and contributing to practice policies and guidelines.
Responsible for the health and safety of themselves and others, and for reporting and actively co-operating in the application of the practice health and safety policies and procedures.
Service Development:
Involved with the partners, other providers, users and carers of the service to ensure that service developments meet with identified needs.
Involved in the development of appropriate standards and monitoring structures to ensure the provision of a high quality service.
Involved in the development of innovative approaches, which improve access to the service and the quality of patient care.
Involved in and support the QOF, LES and DES
Training and Education:
Involved in the development of practice based education including debriefing and supervising learners and contribution to teaching programmes.
The post holder will be expected to maintain an approach to their own continuous professional development in accordance with agreed guidelines.
To participate in the in-house appraisal scheme.
The practice is committed to CPD and the postholder will be expected to meet the CPD requirements of the ICB and also to participate in practice educational meetings and to liaise with colleagues in the team to facilitate their attendance of courses and conferences.
Research and Audit:
Participate in clinical research and development to improve care and services as deemed appropriate by local and national guidelines.
To be involved in the development and implementation of a programme of regular medical and multi-disciplinary clinical audit.
To actively assist in the process of health needs research/base line data collection/clinical audit.
Be committed to lifelong learning and audit and effectiveness issues to ensure evidence based best practice.
Administrative Functions:
Provide and maintain accurate records of the work undertaken and to ensure effective communication with other agencies involved in patient care.
General administrative work, preparation of patient reports (such as MARs).
Maintain contemporaneous patient records following consultations with patients in the surgery and at home visits.
Records data in patient records systems to agreed standards, manually and computerised.
General Professional Duties:
To support training and development.
To maintain personal professional competency and appropriate development.
To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with practice policies.
Required to comply with all relevant national and local statutory and mandatory requirements including Health & Safety and Infection Control
Person Specification Qualifications
MBBS (or equivalent)
Child Protection Training
JCPT GP certificate or CCT for General Practice
CPR, Anaphylaxis, Defrib Training
Completed GP Vocational Training Scheme or equivalent
Able to work both individually and as part of a team.
Clinical skills required to manage acute presentations and chronic disease within primary care.
Working knowledge of GP clinical systems
Highly motivated
Able to demonstrate innovation and flexibility
Able to meet transport requirements
MRCGP
