Jackson Hogg are proud to be supporting a leading operations management and engineering services business in the appointment of an Emergency Preparedness Advisor based in Stockton-on-Tees.
Our client operates in high-hazard, highly regulated industries across the UK, with ambitious growth plans nationally and into Europe. They are a well-established business with a strong reputation for operational excellence and a genuine commitment to developing their people.
This is a specialist, company-level role with genuine breadth and senior visibility. You will own the emergency preparedness strategy across a portfolio of complex, regulated operations covering COMAH compliance, crisis management, security risk, emergency planning, and training delivery.
The Role
Working closely with senior leadership, operational teams, emergency services, and external agencies, you will ensure the business is strategically prepared, legally compliant, and operationally ready to respond when it matters most.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing, maintaining, and improving emergency preparedness plans and communication protocols
* Evaluating and strengthening the crisis management process across the business and identifying opportunities for improvement
* Ensuring compliance with COMAH regulations across all phases and proposing mitigation measures where required
* Assessing physical security risks with consideration for the protection needs of critical infrastructure
* Identifying security threats and ensuring robust processes are in place to manage them
* Designing and delivering emergency response training for employees, contractors, and clients
* Supporting the senior leadership team during live emergencies to protect personnel and the environment
* Collaborating with emergency services, regulators, and external stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships
* Leading and contributing to incident investigations, root cause analysis, and post-incident recovery
* Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of emergency response activity across the business
What You Will Need
* A degree or professional qualification in continuity, disaster, emergency, or risk management
* Significant experience within a high-hazard industrial environment petrochemical, energy, oil and gas, or hydrocarbon processing
* Proven COMAH knowledge and hands-on experience of delivering improvement plans
* Experience of Silver or Gold Command and incident management within a high-hazard or petrochemical setting
* Crisis management experience within a large or matrix organisation
* A background in emergency planning or business continuity as a primary function, not a bolt-on
* Experience leading emergency response and advising senior management during live incidents
* Strong investigation capability root cause analysis, formal methodology, board-level recommendations
