Job Description
As Transport Manager, you will ensure the effective operation of the Transport function, drive continuous improvements, and develop integrated transport solutions to deliver a premium and cost-effective service. You will manage the Transport budget, accounting for variances, and proactively engage in new initiatives at the depot to ensure successful project integration aligned with business needs.
Qualifications include a CPC, which would be beneficial.
What will you be doing?
1. Seek optimisation proactively without affecting service levels.
2. Integrate and control new cross-dock clients where applicable.
3. Manage an increased vehicle fleet, including offsite parking.
4. Ensure efficiency and effectiveness across all operational areas.
5. Lead, motivate, and develop team members to enhance their leadership skills.
6. Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and transport regulations.
7. Manage relationships with approved 3rd party hauliers on national and international journeys.
8. Communicate effectively across the transport operation.
9. Develop and implement service standards in collaboration with customers and other business areas.
10. Propose and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency and performance.
11. Maintain a secure and safe environment for staff and products.
12. Support initiatives to reduce the company's carbon footprint, such as recycling programs.
13. Interface with major customers, including meetings, reviews, and ad hoc engagements.
14. Work within tight deadlines on new initiatives.
15. Provide leadership and direction to the Transport Department.
16. Maintain Operator Licences efficiently and accurately, with contingency plans in place.
17. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and manage new legislation proactively.
18. Manage the Transport Department through KPI measures.
19. Make effective daily decisions for administration teams.
20. Manage key supplier relationships for quality and cost, including significant UK and continental suppliers.
21. Plan and control staff activities to achieve efficiency, setting objectives for ongoing improvement.
