Salary will be paid at M1 in line with the Outer London Main Pay Scale and is suitable for an Early Career Teacher beginning their teaching career.
About the Role
Teach Now is recruiting on behalf of a high-performing secondary school in Hertfordshire for an Early Career Teacher (Business & Economics) to join their dynamic department from September 2026.
This full-time, permanent role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated ECT to begin their teaching career in a supportive and forward-thinking school environment that values innovation in teaching and strong subject knowledge.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons across Business and Economics at Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop an understanding of enterprise, financial literacy and the global economy. You will join a collaborative department committed to high-quality teaching and supporting new teachers to grow in confidence and expertise.
Requirements
To be eligible for this role, applicants must have:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be currently completing teacher training
• A degree in Business, Economics or a related subject
• Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for business and economic concepts
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• A commitment to student achievement and professional development
• Applications are welcomed from trainee teachers currently completing their PGCE or teacher training.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver engaging Business and Economics lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Help students understand enterprise, financial decision-making and economic systems
• Use assessment strategies to monitor progress and support attainment
• Participate in the ECT induction programme, mentoring and CPD
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and academic progress
• Attend department meetings, CPD sessions and parents’ evenings
The Ideal Candidate Will
• Be an Early Career Teacher or trainee specialising in Business or Economics
• Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons
• Demonstrate strong communication and classroom management skills
• Be passionate about helping students understand real-world business and economic issues
• Be committed to ongoing professional development
