Gloucestershire Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) Support Coordinator
Location: Gloucester, Gloucestershire
Salary: A GBP 24,956 per annum (Rising to A GBP 25,350 per annum on successful completion of probation)
Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
The Role
The role is to support recent or non-recent survivors of rape or sexual abuse who wish to access the Gloucester ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) service, as well as supporting the delivery of the Trauma Stabilisation Programme for all clients who are within and outside of the Criminal Justice process seeking support.
The post holder will maintain survivor engagement for adults and children in the Criminal Justice System process until the client is allocated an ISVA, as well as maintaining effective communication between Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) and ISVA services.
The role is also to support a victim through the referral pathway from crisis to recovery, ensuring that the victim feels supported, listened to, and believed.
The post holder will be the nominated case lead and point of contact for the victim to allow a smooth transition from SARC to other services, whilst supporting safety planning, monitoring risk (including escalation to high risk and safeguarding concerns).
Key Responsibilities
1. Support recent or non-recent survivors of rape or sexual abuse who wish to access the Gloucester ISVA service.
2. Support the delivery of the Trauma Stabilisation Programme for all clients seeking support, within and outside the Criminal Justice process.
3. Maintain survivor engagement until the client is allocated an ISVA.
4. Maintain effective communication between SARC and ISVA services.
5. Support victims through the referral pathway from crisis to recovery.
6. Ensure victims feel supported, listened to, and believed.
7. Be the nominated case lead and contact point for victims for smooth transition from SARC to other services.
8. Support safety planning and monitor risk, including escalation to high risk and safeguarding concerns.
9. Broker recovery support packages such as therapy, peer support, and onward referrals.
10. Ensure clients are seen by aftercare services.
11. Signpost, refer, and broker access to information, advice, and support.
12. Provide continuity of support for victims not assigned a frontline worker.
13. Maintain accurate and confidential electronic case records and contribute to service performance monitoring.
14. Assess and review victim risk and needs regularly using a trauma-informed approach to ensure safety.
15. Manage and review own caseload to keep the service user-centered, cost-effective, and responsive.
16. Provide administrative support for the ISVA service, including creating purchase orders, responding to enquiries, and assisting with administrative tasks.
17. Support communication via telephone, WhatsApp, text, email, or face-to-face at Gloucester SARC.
18. The coordinator should be highly motivated, flexible, able to work independently, and handle a high volume of cases.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Full driving licence.
2. Literacy skills and experience working with databases.
3. IT and computer literacy skills.
4. Safeguarding Adults and Children training.
5. Experience supporting victims of sexual abuse or working with vulnerable people.
6. Understanding of sexual assault impacts and domestic abuse on victims and families.
7. Understanding of safeguarding practices.
