Recruitment approach

Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be part of the Council Tax Section, a front line service responsible for administering the authority’s 89,000 Council Tax accounts.
Key duties include determining and taking action on amendments to council tax liability arising from changes in property occupation and ownership, managing entitlement to statutory discounts and exemptions, and dealing with enquiries related to liability and recovery action on unpaid accounts.
Applicants must be able to develop detailed technical knowledge of Council Tax legislation, procedures, and systems; organise and prioritise their workload; provide support and advice on complex cases; and support the council tax team when needed. Independent initiative and a contribution to the future development of the local taxation team are essential.
Qualifications and requirements
Basic level of conversational Welsh (level 2) – reasonable support provided at appointment to reach this level.
A basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested for this role.
Legal eligibility to work in the United Kingdom will be confirmed. If a candidate does not meet the eligibility criteria, their application will not progress.
