Working within the Energetics and Materials Team, you will be responsible for the research, development, clearance, and manufacture of materials and products to meet demanding requirements, including physical, chemical, thermal, mechanical, and ballistic properties under extreme conditions of temperature, pressure, vibration.
Given the nature of the role, candidates may not have knowledge in all aspects. Successful candidates will attend specialist training courses and conferences, along with on-the-job training to develop necessary skills and competences.
Technical Responsibilities - Energetics Chemist
* Develop and monitor propellant to meet energy, mechanical, and ballistic requirements.
* Improve, drive efficiencies, and standardize manufacturing processes.
* Qualify propellant and materials per defence and internal standards.
* Manage materials (stocks, quality, performance, legislation) to meet strict design requirements.
* Support, monitor, and improve manufacturing processes.
* Qualify materials in accordance with standards.
* Clearance of ingredients and finished materials for manufacturing.
* Research and test materials using known and novel processing methods, including mixing technology.
Requirements:
* Degree in Chemistry.
* Genuine interest and aptitude in chemistry/material science, with high self-motivation.
* Significant practical experience in a disciplined/technical manufacturing, process, or lab environment.
