The Field Service Engineer role is split between 80% reactive and 20% scheduled work. Most reactive work begins with a telephone call, with follow-up visits to be arranged, as necessary, to repair, fault find, or conduct a performance review. Scheduled work is arranged by you, where the frequency depends on the seniority of the client. This includes servicing and maintenance, as well as training and induction to educate customers on how to get the best out of the equipment and identify potential concerns before they arise.
In your first few weeks in this Service Engineer role, you can expect to:
1. Maintain a presence and ever improving relationship with major customers through a regular schedule of service calls and rapid response to requests for assistance
2. Instruct and train customers in all aspects of proper product installation, maintenance, and damage diagnosis/prevention practices and advise/report on any situation that may give rise to product performance concerns
