The Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate has published an overarching pharmacy strategy for the next two years and this post will be integral to it’s delivery. We are looking for an innovative and ambitious individual to continue to develop and lead our pharmacy service to Endocrine and Cardiology in NHS Fife. It is an exciting time, with the recent set up of a pharmacist-led clinic within this service area and this post being a prominent and valued role within the clinical MDTs, Managed Clinical Network and the Fife Diabetes Safety group. As the Senior Clinical Pharmacist, you will lead an established team of junior and specialist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians within the pharmacy medicine team. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, optimal and clinically effective use of medicines. This would include communicating highly complex information relating to medicines with clinicians, nurses, non-medical prescribers, carers and patients, as well as implementation and monitoring of clinical pathways for treatments, including review of treatment in line with national guidance. You will assist in the management of patients with chronic, acute and / or deteriorating conditions, ideally working as an independent prescriber, attending ward rounds and the pharmacist-led clinic to maximise the pharmaceutical input into patient care. You will contribute to all aspects of clinical governance, education and training, medicine efficiencies, clinical risk and audit within this specialty. You must be dynamic, enthusiastic, compassionate and have a proven track record of service development to support our transformational improvement journey. You should also be self motivated and able to work independently or as part of the pharmacy team and wider multidisciplinary team. Our successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who has the ability to build good relationships with colleagues and other healthcare professionals. You should have experience of working in a clinical environment and managing staff. Non medical prescribing qualification is desirable.
