The role:
Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Catering Assistant and play a vital role in supporting high-quality patient care through catering services. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will help deliver meals and refreshments to patients, staff and visitors across a range of clinical and retail settings. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
1. Duration: Permanent
2. Location: Vale Of Leven General Hospital
3. Hours: Part-time (14.4 hours per week)
4. Working Pattern: Monday-Friday
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours
Key responsibilities:
5. Supporting the delivery of catering services to patients, staff, visitors and for functions within the hospital.
6. Regeneration of patients' meals either centrally or at ward level.
7. Plating patient meals at the point of service as advised by nursing staff.
8. Cleaning and wash-up of all equipment, machinery, and crockery associated with catering services.
9. Assist food production staff with the basic preparation of meals.
10. Undertake picking & packing of patient meal components.
11. Support the overall delivery of patient meals to ward level.
12. Comply with Food Hygiene Regulations with regard to food service.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
13. Knowledge of all aspects of catering services, although training will be provided to new starts.
14. Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate (training provided).
15. Meals regeneration and service (training provided).
16. Good communication and customer care skills.
17. Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH (training provided).
18. Knowledge of Lifting & Handling (training provided).
19. Knowledge of Infection Control practices (training provided).
20. Able to work under pressure.
21. Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
