Job Title: Town Planner / Senior Town Planner

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a highly regarded independent planning consultancy in the appointment of a Town Planner or Senior Town Planner as part of its continued growth.
About the Consultancy
This well:established planning consultancy is owned and led by two highly experienced Directors, offering a combined 50 years experience across both the public and private sectors. The practice provides commercially focused, pragmatic planning advice to a broad client base across England and is supported by an experienced team of planners and dedicated administrative staff.
The consultancy advises on a wide range of development types, including residential, retail, office, leisure and large:scale mixed:use schemes. It has a particularly strong reputation in the residential sector, acting for both national and regional housebuilders, landowners, promoters and private companies.
Current projects include residential developments ranging from 10 to 1,500 dwellings, with work spanning planning applications, appeals and development plan promotions, offering exposure to complex and high:profile schemes.
The Role
The successful candidate will join a busy and collaborative team, working on varied and high:quality planning projects. Depending on experience, responsibilities will include:
* Preparing and managing planning applications from inception to determination
* Drafting planning statements, appeals and development plan representations
* Providing clear, commercially focused planning advice to clients
* Liaising with local planning authorities, statutory consultees and stakeholders
* Supporting site promotion and strategic land projects
* Attending client, consultant and authority meetings
* Mentoring junior team members (Senior Planner level)
About You
This role would suit a motivated and capable planner who has:
* A degree (and ideally a postgraduate qualification) in Town Planning or a related discipline
* MRTPI membership or working towards chartership (or equivalent experience)
* Experience in private consultancy, local authority, or a combination of both
* A strong understanding of the UK planning system, particularly residential development
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* A proactive, organised and commercially aware approach
