Responsibilities
This role is to provide maintenance leadership across our engineer teams and proactively seek out improvements and efficiencies to work processes that provide service efficiencies and quality enhancements. The Technical Manager is responsible for implementing our Strategic Asset Management Plan over the course of the contract and adopt the use and development of technology and automatic monitoring (including meters and building management systems) to achieve the efficient maintenance of plant and equipment. They will regularly conduct reviews of our service delivery model (internal versus external delivery) and advise the Account Director and Regional Managers of any changes in maintenance techniques or installed services which may reduce the possible exposure of disruption or interruption to the business-critical operations caused by failures in engineering services.
Key Skills & Competencies
Manage and provide technical consultancy for site-based teams of multi-skilled engineers, ensuring that they provide the technical services required by the contract in a consistent manner
Manage and update Forward Maintenance Registers and Risk Registers, relaying relevant information to the client
Technical audits of sites to ensure quality of installation and maintenance work meets best in class industry standards and that paperwork and certification meets legislative and in-house requirements
Technical audits, reviews and advice to site teams and clients on innovation
Previous held role as Authorised Person for electrical, pressure and confined space
Energy reviews, air-conditioning surveys and offer advice to clients to ensure the sites are compliant with legislation
Review and manage energy saving improvement projects
Review power resilience for sites
Investigating SPF in both Mechanical, Fluid and Electrical Systems on a site
Installation and testing to meet statutory requirements
Sit on cross business technical and compliance committees to set uniform technical guidelines and operating practices to be used by all business units.
Work closely with other Technical Manager's within the Business Unit and support the Divisional Technical Director in all business related activitiesEducation
Recognised apprenticeship, HNC/ONC Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equal
5+ years' experience of working within a Hard Services led environment
Skills
IT literate with strong experience of working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software
Customer Service skills
Able to communicate with all levels of staff in a polite and efficient manner
Reliable and conscientious worker willing to learn and develop new skills and adapt to new working environments
Ability to prioritise workload to effectively meet deadlines
Have a positive and proactive approach to work and able to work on own initiative and as part of a large Maintenance Team
Knowledge
Technical knowledge of technology used in site systems
Knowledge of Industry best practices
Experience
Strong proven experience in building services and maintenance of complex environments
Experience of managing/controlling high risk activities such as complex switching operations, working on pressure systems and confined space entry
