About the Service
We are recruiting on behalf of a large, Ofsted‑registered residential children’s home providing care for up to 8 young people aged 7–17 with learning difficulties and associated support needs.
The home is a recently refurbished, detached property set in a peaceful location, designed to provide a safe, warm, and homely environment where young people can feel secure and supported.
The service is built around a clear ethos of “Empower and Nurture”, focusing on helping children and young people develop confidence, achieve personal goals, and feel valued through consistent, relationship‑based care.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to support the management team in leading shifts within this larger residential setting.
You will play a key role in maintaining structure, supporting staff performance, and ensuring that young people receive consistent, high‑quality care tailored to their individual needs.
This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will be actively involved in both staff supervision and direct support to young people.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead shifts and provide clear direction to the residential care team
* Support the delivery of individual care plans and placement goals
* Ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing environment is maintained at all times
* Promote safeguarding and ensure all policies and procedures are followed
* Supervise, support, and mentor staff during shifts
* Maintain accurate records, logs, and incident reporting
* Support young people with emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs
* Encourage participation in daily routines, activities, and goal‑based learning
* Work collaboratively with external professionals and families
* Contribute to maintaining consistency across a larger staff team
About You
* NVQ Level 3 / Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* Experience within a children’s residential care setting
* Previous experience in a senior support or team leader role (preferred)
* Experience working in larger homes or with learning difficulties (desirable)
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and residential care standards
* Confident in leading shifts and supporting staff performance
* Calm, consistent, and resilient in approach
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Passionate about supporting children and young people to reach their potential
