About Lakeside Church

Lakeside Church is a vibrant, multicultural, Elim church based in Southport, with a congregation of over 400 people. Our vision is to “Lead others into Life” by sharing the Good News of Jesus in every way we can.

Throughout the week, Lakeside is a hub of activity, especially within our NextGen ministries. We currently engage with around 150 children and young people each week through Sunday gatherings, midweek groups, and school partnerships.

Our NextGen ministries operate under the Limitless brand—Elim’s national movement for children and youth—and are structured into three key areas:

* Limitless Littles (Early Years & Preschool)

* Limitless Kids (Primary School)

* Limitless Youth (Secondary School & Students)

We already have two dedicated staff members serving within this area, and we are excited to welcome a new leader to help build, shape, and develop this vital ministry.

Role Overview

The NextGen Pastor will provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the NextGen ministries at Lakeside Church, which includes Limitless Littles, Limitless Kids, and Limitless Youth.

Working closely with the Lead Pastor, staff team, and volunteers, you will help cultivate a strong discipling culture that engages children, young people, and their families. This is a key leadership role involving teaching, team development, pastoral care, and outreach—both within the church and into the wider community, including schools and family settings.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves leadership, management, planning, and pastoral care—focused on helping the next generation grow and take their next step in faith.

1. Lead the Ministry Vision

* Carry the vision for the Kids or Youth ministry and help others catch it.

* Work with other leaders to keep the ministry aligned with the church’s overall mission.

* Plan and lead meetings with volunteers to stay on track and grow together.

* Manage the ministry budget and resources wisely.

2. Create Great Weekly Experiences

* Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate sessions each week.

* Use a clear teaching plan that helps children and youth grow in their faith.

* Support and train others to help lead sessions well.

3. Build a Strong Team

* Recruit and support volunteers who love working with kids or youth.

* Help leaders build strong relationships with the young people they serve.

* Use simple systems to make sure everyone knows their role and feels valued.

4. Partner with Parents

* Keep parents informed and involved in what’s happening in the ministry.

* Provide tools and support to help parents promote faith at home.

* Create opportunities for families to grow in faith together.

5. Lead Discipleship for Kids and Youth

* Oversee the discipleship journey for children and young people, helping them grow in faith and follow Jesus.

* Create clear next steps for spiritual growth—such as salvation, baptism, and serving.

* Ensure consistent, age-appropriate discipleship across all gatherings and groups.

6. Keep Things Safe and Organised

* Make sure all safeguarding policies are followed and up to date.

* Use church management tools to organise rotas, teams, and communication.

* Oversee other staff or interns, where needed, and support their growth.

Who We Are Looking For

Essential:

* A personal faith in Jesus and a love for the local church.

* Genuine care and empathy for children, youth, and families.

* Ability to manage, lead and inspire both staff and volunteer teams.

* Eagerness to learn, grow, and work with energy and flexibility.

* Good communication skills and the ability to engage with people of all ages.

* Strong organisational and time management skills.

Desirable:

* Theological or ministry-related training.

* Experience leading in a church or youth/children’s ministry setting.

* Confidence working in schools or with community groups.

* Familiarity with the Elim movement and/or the Limitless network.
