The opportunity
We are looking for a Controls Engineer to join our growing Controls team, with a focus on implementing controls for newer projects and resolving controls-related issues on existing projects. This role will be instrumental in helping us scale and maintain our robotic systems across Europe.
You will be the first point of contact for anything related to control systems within our products in production, working hands-on with our systems—designing, refining, and supporting both new and existing solutions. Your input will directly influence the performance, reliability, and scalability of our technology.
Responsibilities Overview
* Design, develop, and refine control systems using Allen-Bradley PLCs and Studio 5000 for robotic and airjet sorters.
* Support production operations by troubleshooting and resolving electrical/control system issues.
* Collaborate and engage with product/production teams to work on key product deliverables involving not only electrical/electronic but electromechanical components like actuators, solenoids, pneumatics etc.
* Take part in on-site installations and mechanical support tasks, sometimes involving travel and occasional weekend work.
* Contribute to standardising and scaling our controls solutions by considering modularity, documentation, and product configurations.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance meets customer and business needs.
* Participate in prototyping, testing, and early-stage builds to help transfer knowledge to installers or third-party teams.
* Prepare and Maintain robust documentation up to date for all electrical/control systems, including schematics and change logs. .
Requirements
* Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
* 4+ years of experience in a similar Controls/Electronics Engineer role.
* Experience in Allen-Bradley suite of products, PLC programming (Ladder), HMI screen creation, integration of 3rd party equipment such as robot, vision systems, measurement systems etc.
* Basic knowledge of how safety systems work, performance levels, SIL.
* Some experience with PCB’s, basic electronics and instrumentation.
* Experience in field support, system debugging, and mechanical installations
* Strong communicator.
* Proactive mindset and able to work independently under minimal supervision.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
* Willingness to travel within Europe as needed.
It's a bonus if you have (Nice to have):
* Full clean driving license
* Electrical, wiring or software knowledge
* CAD for Electrical Schematics, Diagrams
* Network, LAN/WAN, Router/internet diagnosis
* Experience installing industrial equipment
* Experience installing and testing FANUC Robots or any robotic systems or vision-guided automation
* Fluent in an additional European language
